Bridal Make-Up

DIY TIPS

You're getting married! Congratulations.
The costs can rise very quickly at a wedding. And most brides-to-be choose a makeup artist to truly shine on one of the most beautiful days of your life.
Are you a handy make-up artist and/or do you know exactly what you want and like to have control over it? Of course, you can also choose to do your own make-up. But, what should you pay attention to then? We give you make-up tips to shine optimally as a bride.

The make-up
Mineral makeup is ideal for a bride! Not everyone is used to thick layers in daily life and you want to still look like yourself on your important day, but just with a bit more sparkle. With mineral makeup, you can create a look ranging from very natural to a more glamorous look that still appears natural. Don't hide behind thick, unnatural layers of makeup that can smudge if you can't quite hold back that tear. And in many cases, it is also not good for your skin. Choose a high-quality mineral makeup product that stays beautiful all day and soothes and cares for your skin.

A makeup look naturally starts with makeup in the right and desired colors.

The right colors
With the right foundation color, your makeup look stands or falls. A wrong undertone or a foundation that is too dark may give the wrong impression, but you will also be more noticeable if you don't just feel a subtle tear, but a whole river flowing down your cheeks.
On our website, there are many tools to make the right selection of colors that you can try at home. But we are also available online and in person to help you make the best choice.

Make-up workshop
In addition to the foundation, there are plenty of choices in additional products and shades. If you find it difficult to make a choice here, then in the run-up to your unforgettable day, it might be a really fun idea to attend a workshop . In the make-up studio of Mineralissima, in Alphen aan den Rijn, you are warmly welcome for a Beauty Session. If you find the travel distance too far, there might be a Sales Location in your region that also offers mineral make-up workshops.

The product selection

You can make the makeup look as elaborate as you want, but there is a selection of products that ensure a complete, beautiful picture. Our recommendations are:

A primer prepares the skin and ensures that your makeup stays beautiful in place for longer. If your skin needs extra help, we have the Soothing Primer against redness and our Rice Primer Shine Solution has an extra mattifying effect for quickly shiny skin. In most cases, our Mineral primer Flawless base is a fine choice.

The concealer is made to better hide unwanted spots beforehand, such as our Papaya concealer for (blue) circles around the eyes. Or refresh the skin around the eyes with Rose Concealer.
Do you need this? Be very sparing with the amount of powder you use, especially with the Foliage concealer because you don't want to see green spots through your foundation once you're caught on camera during your photo session.

Insider tip: Do not use a lighter shade around the eyes than your skin. This can cause light circles around the eyes due to lighting.

The right foundation color gives the makeup look an even appearance and with just a little you can take an already radiant skin to an even higher level without looking unnatural. Start from the center of the face and build it up in thin layers if you need a bit more coverage. Use a foundation color that perfectly matches your skin, then you will look your best.

Insider tip: Always blend it well so you don't see any harsh lines where you stopped applying.

Blush and/or Bronzer add a bit of shape to your freshly evened-out canvas. Don't underestimate the power of a small pinch of blush on your cheeks. The range blushers and bronzers from Mineralissima offers something for everyone.

Insider tip: When applying a bronzer, try not to suddenly contour areas you are not used to, as this may have the wrong effect. Build it up subtly.

With eyeshadow you can go as bold as you want, but try to stay true to yourself so you feel good about it. Neutral colors are always a good base, and you can optionally expand this with a bit more color and/or shimmer or you can choose a color based on your eye color.
Start your eye look with an eyeshadow primer and never forget to finish the eye look with a mascara! Tip, a touch of mineral powder on the lashes helps the mascara adhere better. So make sure to include your eyes well when applying foundation. If you're worried that our water-resistant formula isn't waterproof enough, you can apply a layer of mascara primer of your choice underneath for the day or have eyelash extensions applied.

Insider Tip: For oily eyelids, our Rice Primer Shine Solution works fantastically as an eye primer!

If you prefer a more glamorous look, you can subtly apply a highlighter just above the cheekbones, under your eyebrow ridge, on the bridge of your nose, and a small touch above the cupid's bow of your lips.

Insider tip: if you have issues such as acne on the mentioned areas, do not apply highlighter there because shine will accentuate the imperfections.

With a finishing powder you complete the entire makeup look and set the products used. Our Chiffon Finish is a fantastic choice, but if you want to go for ultra matte that keeps shine under control longer, then Rice Veil Intense matte or Oil Control powder is your best friend.

The lips really do ask for a bit of color today. Choose a color that suits you and avoid too much shine. To make the color last longer, apply a lip liner over the entire lip, a lipstick over that, followed by a bit of gloss in the center of the lips.

Trial session
A bridal makeup artist would do a trial session with you beforehand. It is wise to do this yourself as well. Take a before and after photo in different lighting conditions to see the difference, and this also gives you the opportunity to see if you need to make any adjustments here and there.

Insider tip: Try making the look more than once so you have better control over the tension on the day itself.

Pamper your skin beforehand
If you still have time, treat your face to a pampering session at a beauty salon so that all impurities are removed and the skin is well hydrated. Of course, you can also do this yourself if you have the right products at home. After all, you do deserve a bit of pampering after all the arrangements for your big day.

Your rescue kit
Prepare a small bag for the big day containing some essential make-up items so that you can touch up if needed. For example, indispensable items include: A finishing powder such as Rice Veil Intense matte/Oil control powder with a kabuki brush. A pack of Blotting paper (actually indispensable on this day!) and your lipstick/lip gloss.

The finishing powder is used to powder over the look without having to redo everything. Blotting paper to magically remove unwanted (shine) gloss and the lipstick/lip gloss because secretly you want your hubby to clearly know that he kissed his bride.

And then... enjoy your beautiful day and shine like never before!
