How to apply mineral makeup

 Step by step

Whether you're just starting with makeup, switching to a natural version, or simply looking for a fresh, simple routine: with mineral makeup, you give your skin a beautiful, natural look. It doesn't have to be complicated, and you don't have to be a professional.

With a few gentle, thoughtful steps, you help your skin look calmer, more even, and radiant. In a way that perfectly suits who you are.

What do you need?

You don't need much to start. With a few products and the right brushes, you can get very far:

The steps of a natural look

 As we recommend it

1. Start with a fresh, cared-for skin

Cleanse your face and optionally apply a day cream. Let the cream absorb well before continuing. A clean, dry skin ensures the powders can adhere and blend beautifully.

2. Apply a primer and first touch up specific spots

Before you start with concealer or color corrector, begin by applying a primer. This ensures your makeup adheres better and lasts longer. Our primers have different functions, tailored to your skin's needs:

Apply the primer to a cleansed and hydrated skin. Use your fingertips or a brush to distribute it evenly, especially on areas where you tend to shine quickly or where your makeup doesn't stay well.

After that, you can specifically tackle imperfections with a concealer or color corrector.

For example, do you have redness around your nose or chin? Then a green color corrector is often exactly what you need (Foliage concealer). For dark circles, you can use a peach color (Papaya concealer). And for a dull complexion, we recommend a pink color (Rose concealer)

3. Apply your foundation

  • Take a small amount of powder in the lid of the jar. Swirl your brush in it so the product is well distributed.
  • Tap off the excess powder from your brush and apply the foundation to your face with gentle, circular motions.
  • Work from the center to the sides of your face. This creates an even, natural coverage.

Want a little more coverage? Then apply another thin layer. Mineral makeup is perfect for building up without feeling heavy.

4. Conceal any unwanted spots if necessary

Do you have unwanted spots that the foundation doesn't fully cover? Maybe a concealer is your solution.

We have concealers in different shades that match your skin tone and provide coverage where you want it, think of redness, dark circles, or blemishes.

Use a small amount and blend it in with your fingertip or a concealer brush for a natural result. Apply color correctors before applying your foundation or apply Skin Fix concealers after your foundation for extra coverage on specific spots.

Our favorites: Skin Fix concealer for a quick touch-up, or the Liquid Concealer medium if you want to brighten under your eyes a bit more.

5. Finish with a finishing powder (Optional)

A finishing powder ensures that your skin shines less and that your makeup stays beautiful all day.

Apply it lightly with a clean powder brush. Especially if you have oilier skin, this is a nice final step. Our top picks for oilier skin: Rice Veil Intense Matte and Oil Control powder Medium, both based on rice powder.
